Colin Wilford

As a young man, Colin has always been interested in how people think and behave given their inherited resources and unique circumstances. Studying the mind, personality dynamics, the power of influence and leadership has always been an interest of his from a young age. In addition to this intellectual passion, Colin became an accomplished sportsman who then went on help other athletes mentally prepare for the world stage and achieve top honors in their respective disciplines.

After graduating from Grad school and starting his own Practice as a Clinical Psychologist in 1996, Colin extended his professional career to consulting to the business world in providing assessments, training and coaching solutions for all their “people” needs and concerns.

Colin has been married for 24 years and has 3 children. He quickly became recognized around the globe as an expert in his field as he became increasingly sort after to help resolve Selection, People Dynamics, and Training needs for all levels of staff and leaders in Organizations on almost every continent.

Having recently moved to the USA, Colin brings his International and multi-cultural experience within challenging industries to help Leaders and Companies resolve their current people concerns. Always retaining his athletic interest, Colin now does mountain biking and skiing as his sports of choice as he lives close to some of the best ski resorts in the USA.

Sharon is the founder of Key Steps Corporate Training. She is a dynamic communicator with over 20 years’ experience in the field of adult education, corporate facilitation and coaching. She is a registered Education, Training and Development Practitioner (ETDP), holds an Honours degree in Psychology and practices as an Executive Coach and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Practitioner at a Masters Level. She is currently completing her PhD with a focus on holistic and sustainable personal leadership development. Sharon is also one of only three women in South Africa to hold the title of Certified Speaking Professional (CSP). The CSP designation is the most sought after and visible measure of professionalism in the speaking business internationally (it’s the Oscar of the speaking industry). To ensure that she can offer you the very best support, she engages in continual self-development and learning and participates in numerous organisations. In 2011, she was the Vice President of the Professional Speakers Association of Southern Africa (PSASA).

Sharon blends extensive research, various methodologies, tools, stories, theories, case studies, practical exercises (including peer interaction and team building strategies), experiential assignments and homework tasks to create an experience that inspires individuals and teams to take both personal and professional steps to really… ‘be the difference that makes the difference’.
Her passion for life and learning, and belief that people are inherently capable of achieving anything they choose to, inspires others to realise just how capable, talented and magnificent they are. Sharon works hand-in-hand with individuals and leading corporates, positioning them for long-term success.

Wayne’s success in the business world is not just based upon his natural entrepreneurial and deal making abilities but equally upon his deep interest in and care for the people he works with. Wherever Wayne has established a business or made a deal (and that’s in numerous markets around the world now), he’s recognized that the success of his ventures has not just depended upon the quality of the idea but also upon the way it’s launched and operated. That’s why he has always sought to hire great people and then nurtured and developed them to become the best people.

In contrast to the trend of being satisfied with the belief that it was inevitable that 17% of his employees would be below average, 66% average, and only 17% high achievers, Wayne has always striven for maximum success – for himself and his employees.

Wayne believes in the ‘whole’ employee, not just the worker who turns up between clocking on and clocking off. He has proven time and again that by taking the time to empower his people he beats the averages and gets the best out of every employee and performance measures are exceeded.
He is Executive Chairman of multiple businesses across multiple countries and it’s no surprise, given his understanding of people, that he has been particularly successful in the field of media and entertainment. Communications and marketing are natural strengths to him. He has an outstanding track record of seeing business opportunities and building successful companies and is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Really Epic Dog Group which spans Africa, Australia, Europe, and North America.

His ability to create new businesses is evident in his most recent innovation launched in 2016, a Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality company, Laduma, which has already acquired a list of blue chip companies, including Samsung, HSBC, Unilever, and several top NFL, NBA, and soccer clubs.

Wayne’s commitment to the Wilford and Scholes ideals and aims is founded in his successful experience of building multiple businesses by selecting and empowering the right people.

Marc has spent most of his career dedicated to education and training in both the public and private sectors in Europe and North America. He has seen the transformative power of learning at work time and time again and believes that as we shift towards a more complex knowledge centred economy ongoing professional development will become central to our prosperity – as companies and as individuals.

During his time in the British University sector Marc gained masses of experience creating new curriculum from individual workshops and courses to entire degree programmes. His philosophy of creating learning experiences that are purposeful, relevant, engaging, and accessible to all learners drove him to be an early adopter of Universal learning principles and learning outcomes models, and an entrepreneur in the adoption of new technologies to content delivery.

Marc has substantial experience of quality control in the learning experience and sees this as an essential foundation to evaluating employee needs and professional development. He has a deep interest in design thinking, positive psychology and an ‘art enabled life’ philosophy. He loves technology and is an experienced documentary maker with a belief that new technologies, such as virtual, augmented, and mixed reality can play a key role in delivering the kind of adaptable, flexible, and accessible learning that will push the boundaries of employee success.

His passion for the Wilford and Scholes initiative is based upon the shared values of the partners and their belief in people and their ability to perform and excel when given the right circumstances.

Sheila R. Carruthers

Lead Facilitator

MBA, CMC

Sheila is a Certified Management Consultant and has an MBA majored in Public Relations and Communications Management. She specializes in corporate social responsibility, organizational excellence, and business sustainability.

Sheila prepares comprehensive organizational assessments benchmarked against global standards then works closely with our clients to interpret results and develop a realistic forward-looking strategy.

Having lived in the U.K., U.S.A., and Canada - working in international finance, diplomatic services, multinationals, and for large grant-making foundations, she has gained an exceptional understanding of diverse workplace cultures and operations.

Sheila draws on her communications and management expertise to realize her passion for working with management teams to dig into the complexities of managing conflicting priorities.

Effective community support is one of Sheila’s key strengths. She has served on local, provincial, national, and international boards and committees. In 2017, her board leadership was recognized by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) - awarding the Calgary chapter, under Sheila’s leadership, both Large Chapter of the Year and International Chapter of the Year. Sheila currently volunteers on IABC’s International Executive Board.
